ProxTel Suites is delivered in either a software-only or a hardware version. The hardware board permits as many as 20 TV-quality, 30 frames per second (fps) video windows in one conference call. It can decode up to 20 video windows with user-defined, independent resolutions (640x480, 320x240, 160x120), and can encode each of these resolution at full motion (30 fps) at the same time.
The software version uses the computer's processor for video encode/decode and can get about 6 Videoconference Quality windows in a call. It uses an application installed on your computer, providing true multipoint multimedia video conferences, simultaneous display of video from laptops, desktops, conference rooms, and file servers. PCV lets you manage multiple windows with flexible frame rates (0.1 - 30 fps), place windows anywhere on the desktop, and experience a full range of audio quality from 8kHz CD-quality stereo.
For either type, a call is able to include a mix of client types; each working at its own level of video and audio quality. Voice or data only conference members (i.e., ones without a video camera) are also supported by ProxTel Suites, which allows for the easy migration from multipoint low bandwidth voice or data only conferences to multipoint high-quality video collaboration conferences over the Internet.
